There have been a lot of idiots featured in film throughout the years. While they're usually a danger to themselves they're always a blast to watch. Funny, comical and sometimes heartwarming, these characters provide the backbone to any comedic movie.
Here are the Dumbest Characters in Movie History.
Ruby Rhod from The Fifth Element
Chris Tucker has played his fair share of idiots including Smokey from "Friday," but nothing compares however to the loud, obnoxious stupidity that is Ruby Rhod from "The Fifth Element." Rhod is a crude in-your-face-host of a futuristic TV show that maybe get on one too many of Bruce Willis' nerves.
Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panter Series
The mastermind Peter Sellers cooked up this character in the early 1960s and still remains one of the best clueless slapstick performances ever captured on film. The idiotic Clouseau tries his best to capture the thieves trying to steal the Pink Panther diamond to no unveil. Sellers' performance is vastly superior to Steve Martin's uninspired remake, check out the montage of the character above.
Brick Tamland in Anchorman
If you're getting just as many laughs as Will Ferrell in his own movie, you know you're doing something right. Steve Carell plays dumbfounded weatherman Brick Tamland in "Anchorman" creating half of the movie's frequently used quotes in the process. "LOUD NOISES!"
Louis Tulley in Ghostbusters
This character played by RIck Moranis is awkward, clueless and a total goob. He's constantly trying to hit on his next door neighbor who clearly isn't interested, but Tulley can't seem to take a hint until he's transformed into a dog demon. The character was one of Ghostbusters funniest moments and asks the question, why did Moranis vanish from Hollywood?
Ernest P. Worrell in Anything
Jim Varney plays this classic moron who is constantly finding himself in the most awkward places including jail, camp, playing basketball or saving Christmas. Ernest was a big character back in the day, check out the various commercial spots he did in the link above.
Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber
My favorite Jim Carrey movie, this one has him play Lloyd, a dunce who is trying to make it to Aspen with his slightly less stupid friend Harry. Lloyd is clueless, moronic, and absolutely hilarious claiming the top spot for dumbest movie character. Want to hear the most annoying sound in the world? Just check out the video clip above.
