Mangalassery Neelakandan is a name Mohanlal has immortalized in the Malayali community through his heart wrenching performance as the namesake in Devasuram. It might not be far from the truth to claim that it could only be Mohanlal who could play this role with such emotional depth that the viewer starts having mixed emotions about Neelakandan. It starts off with his initial actions made the viewer hate his guts and then ends up where the viewer starts to sympathize with him.
Revathi and Innocent also play powerful supporting roles in a way that the movie would be incomplete without them. All in all, the most surprising thing was that IV Sasi, whom I regard as a somewhat talented director was able to pull it off with almost near perfection. Hats off to him for making it happen.
It's a must see movie in Malayalam that any fan shouldn't miss. The cameraman has also done excellent work making this classic extra special.
