Guys I have news, such terrible news! It seems that Star Wars: Episode VIII will be arriving later than expected. The movie, which was slated for a May 2017 release date, has been delayed until December of the same year. A whole 7 more months! Waiting a year and a half was going to be hard enough, but now we must wait a full 2 years to see the continuation of the space saga. This is going to be a very long couple of years.
Is the wait because the script for Episode VIII is still being written? Is it because they are holding out for a certain actor? No, Disney is delaying the film of course for money after The Force Awakens' success. Their reasoning is that JJ Abram's movie did so well during the holidays, they want the same treatment for the next installment, which is being written and directed by Rian Johnson.
From a financial standpoint I suppose this makes sense. It just supremely sucks for us fans to have to wait an additional 7 months. In it's place Disney will now be releasing the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but I doubt anyone cares much about that tired franchise.
