Apparently, all the X-Men Spin-off films--Deadpool, Gambit, and 3rd Wolverine Film will happen after the events of Apocalypse in the same timeline.
Taken from the article here.
"Kinberg – who’s producing all of them and managing the larger continuity of Fox’s Marvel properties – confirms that these modern-set spinoffs take place in the world and timeline, after these events, a world where mutancy is known and accept, where Magneto dropped a stadium on the White House and where Apocalypse will try to annihilate much of the world."
Which is kind of weird, it takes away the tension of Apocalypse seeing as Deadpool and pretty much all of the world looks normal (as far as Deadpool goes) Although obviously, the good guys will win in the end.
And how does this work? Will the future X-Men films continue on the 80's timeline? Or will it just skip time and forward to present day, where it can connect to the modern set of spin-off films?
But when Fox introduced Days Of Future Past, it allowed for the a convenient plot device, time travel/alternate timelines. So when things don't add up, Fox can always say it's a different timeline. And they can basically, tweak the story whatever way they want. Man, it's confusing.
