Over a decade after the first movie was released, the Greek family we’ve come to love is coming back to our screens. The Internet went crazy when the first “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” trailer came out back in November, and now the studio has released the first poster for the film. This one looks pretty similar to the original film’s poster, and brings a nice sense of familiarity to the fans.
The movie will follow Toula and Ian’s marital problems, their troubling teenage daughter and their need to figure out another Greek wedding, this time for Toula’s parents, who never got their marriage certificate signed. Most of the original cast is returning along with some new additions, such as John Stamos and Rita Wilson. Nia Vardalos announced that she was working on a new script last year, but a sequel has been in the works ever since the first movie came out. While it was never number one on the box office, the movie became a hit and gathered quite a following over the years.
Unlike the first film, Vardalos did not direct this one. Instead, director Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee, What To Expect When You’re Expecting) helmed the project. Judging from the trailer, we can expect the family to come back just as we know it: overbearing and with no real sense of boundaries. The movie comes out in theaters on March 25th, 2016.
