With the release of the new “Ghostbusters” film only a few months away, this week Sony finally released the first promotional picture and individual posters of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as their characters! The posters also show some iconic “Ghostbusters” elements, such as the particle thrower, the proton pack, the ghost trap and the actual team logo. Thanks to social media, we’ve been getting some glimpses of the movie for the past few months (like that awesome picture featuring most of the female cast and crew members) but this is the first official look we’ve been given.
The plot of the movie, which was written by Paul Feig (Spy, Freaks and Geeks) and Katie Dippold (The Heat, Parks and Recreation), remains unknown as of right now, but hopefully an official synopsis will also be released soon (along with a new trailer maybe?). Feig also directed the film, and he’s been using twitter to provide news about it, like the fact that Sigourney Weaver and Ernie Hudson would be making cameo appearances. A cameo by Dan Aykroyd has been confirmed, and Bill Murray is listed on the cast.
This is the fourth time that Feig is collaborating with Melissa McCarty, and third time he’s collaborated with Kristen Wiig. The whole cast is also pretty familiar with each other, seeing as Wiig, McKinnon and Jones are all SNL alumni and both McCarthy and Wiig have starred on box-office hit “Bridesmaids” together. This is the first “Ghostbusters” movie in 27 years, and it comes out on July 15th, 2016.
A place to discuss upcming movies.
