The answer as of yet is: maybe. It’s been reported that the actress is in talks to appear in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe installment, but nothing has actually been confirmed. The role she may play haven’t been disclosed as well, but rumor has it that it might be superhero Valkyrie or an unnamed villain. Cate Blanchett has proven her versatility time and time again, and seeing her in the Marvel Universe would for sure be interesting. The actress has just been nominated for both a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her role in “Carol” , and the movie is leading the Globes’ nominations.
Not much is known about the plot of “Thor: Ragnarok” , but judging from its title, we might as well expect some high-level (think end of the world as we know it) destruction. Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost wrote the screenplay, but Marvel recently announced that they just hired writer Stephany Folsom to work on the script. Taika Waititi will direct the feature, which will bring back a lot of your favorites: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander are all returning, and they will be joined by Mark Ruffalo. Thor and Hulk will be teaming up on this one, seeing as threat levels are apparently too big for just one Avenger. The movie starts shooting next June, and is set to be released on November 3rd, 2017.
