I'm gonna watch the Snowpiercer because THE HOST was absolutely fantastic. The creature was handled in such a different way from other monster movies, especially in the almost surreal way it is first introduced. I definitely recommend.
Whaaatt?? They're stupid enough not to realize that if Star Wars was released on Thanksgiving day, people would skip the family dinner and head to the movies. You're right about Pirates, it's definitely the McDonald's of Disney's movie franchises. I don't think I can stand to see Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow again :(
You think the Revenant is a superior production? In what world is that true since Scott had to recreate the feel of an entire planet to get the Martian going. In terms of production value, The Martian is great but storywise, I thought the Revenant was better. I prefer a revenge story anyday over growing potatoes on top of poop samples lol.
Best Director Who Should Win George Miller, the man who directed all of the Mad Max movies, is nominated here. But the man who should win this award is the same who won last year, Alejandro González Iñárritu. While Mad Max is my favorite 2015 movie, The Revenant is almost flawlessly directed. Who Will Win I actually think that Iñárritu will get the award, since he received best director at the Globes. Plus critics and audiences have been creaming over the The Revenant since it's release.
I think it's gonna be neither and Ridley Scott is gonna take the title for "The Martian". It's a pretty rare skill to keep people engaged to the screen while Matt Damon is growing potatoes using poop samples and Ridley Scott pulled it off.
Best Actor Who Should Win One of my favorite performances of the year was Bryan Cranston in Trumbo. The actor really takes a hold of the character here and is my pick for the most deserving of the actors nominated. Damon was good, and Fassbender was great, but Cranston was fascinating. Who Will Win "GIVE DICAPRIO THE OSCAR! GIVE HIM THE OSCAR!!!" An army of displeased fans will rise up and revolt if Leo is not given the golden statue this year. Although The Revenant was a great film, let's be honest, most people could have played Hugh Glass. The working conditions were exhausting, I'm not disputing that, but there was no moment in that movie where I felt where DiCaprio was giving the performance of the year.
I think Cranston is gonna win. He did a terrific job in Trumbo as a unbelievably gifted writer who also has to manage his family. I also thought Diane Lane was amazing. Bryan and Diane had great chemistry.

Since I recently watched the Korean movie, Host, I would say that the Host is a pretty unique movie. It's not about the monster or about the horror. There is a human element in this movie that is unlike what I've seen in other movies. A father's quest to find his daughter, who is his all in all and the emotional moments when he faces obstacles, one after the other makes it more human than other. Here's the trailer if anyone's interested.
Firstblood is an amazing and I was surprised it wasn't rated higher but I respect your opinion lol. I didn't think Starship Troopers would be all that but I'll check it out since you rate it so highly.
